Important Safety Information for Mounjaro®
In rodent studies, tirzepatide caused thyroid C-cell tumors. It is not known whether Mounjaro® causes these tumors, including medullary thyroid carcinoma (MTC), in people. Mounjaro® is contraindicated in patients with a personal or family history of MTC or in patients with Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia syndrome type 2 (MEN 2). Tell your clinician right away if you get a lump or swelling in your neck, hoarseness, trouble swallowing, or shortness of breath.
Approved use. Mounjaro® is FDA-approved to improve blood sugar in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus, along with diet and exercise. Mounjaro® is not FDA-approved for weight loss.
Do not use if you have a personal or family history of MTC or MEN 2, or if you are allergic to tirzepatide or any ingredient in Mounjaro®.
Serious side effects may include inflammation of the pancreas (pancreatitis), gallbladder problems, low blood sugar (especially with insulin or a sulfonylurea), kidney injury from dehydration, serious allergic reactions, diabetic retinopathy changes, and depression or thoughts of suicide. The most common side effects are nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain, and constipation. This is not a complete list.
